CUSTOM DOMAINS

Plan the domain before publishing links.

DNS, ownership verification, HTTPS and routing are separate checks. Learn what to confirm for each hostname before you publish a URL.

THE LINK LIFECYCLE

  1. Own the hostnameChoose a domain your team can renew and maintain.
  2. Publish with a purposeRecord where each public URL appears.

Choose the right hostname

A subdomain such as go.example.com can host managed links while example.com stays on the main website. A dedicated short domain is another option when URL length matters. Both require a renewal owner. The apex and www are separate hostnames; connecting one does not automatically validate the other.

DNS and HTTPS setup explained

Readiness is more than a DNS answer

A complete connection needs the expected DNS record, ownership proof when required, an active HTTPS certificate and a route bound to the right application. During onboarding, test a known path over HTTPS and a missing path. A generic site-not-found response after DNS resolution points to a routing or provider state that still needs attention.
